Kendra takes pride in being a Pacific Northwesterner with immigrant roots. Her grandfather was from the Philippines and laid a foundation for her family in eastern Washington. As the child of a second generation immigrant, Kendra was inspired to advocate for immigrant rights. She graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2014 with a concentration in immigration law. She received the Jerrold L. Walden Memorial Award, which recognizes a student who is passionate about civil liberties and has quietly worked to advance them.

Prior to law school, Kendra obtained a B.A. in Human Services from Western Washington University and a M.A. in Intercultural Youth and Family Development from the University of Montana. Her love of cross-cultural experiences brought her to Central and South America, Mexico, Spain, and New Mexico where she learned the Spanish language. Prior to practicing law, Kendra served immigrant and refugee populations as a social services worker, community organizer, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Naturalization teacher, and activist for human rights. She was one of the youngest members of the New Mexico American Civil Liberties Union’s (ACLU) board. During law school, Kendra interned at Colorado Legal Services Migrant Farmworker Division where she assisted agricultural workers and sheepherders access justice.  Kendra has volunteered her time with detained women and children in Dilley, Texas to ensure they understood their rights in the immigration and asylum process.

As an immigration attorney, Kendra has worked at several private immigration law firms in New Mexico and Oregon. She has represented individuals in Immigration Court (EOIR) proceedings and before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) across the country.  She has prepared immigrants for Department of State processing throughout the world. Kendra is dedicated to ensuring that immigrant Oregonians receive proper, fair, and zealous advocacy in their legal matters.

Kendra is an active member of the State Bar of New Mexico. Because U.S. immigration law is a federal practice area, Kendra can assist clients residing abroad or in any U.S. state.

Kendra loves spending her free time in the Oregon outdoors with her husband Matthew, a public defender, and their two young children, Camila and Valentino.
